Hey,

I'm into the lines of buying the R9 295X2 GPU but I was just into looking at other opinions on behalf of my power supply. I currently own the Corsair GS800 V2 which is handling a FX-8350 @ 5.2GHz ~ 1.55V as well as 4 HDD's and 2 SSD's. Other than that, two Corsair Vengeance 4GBx2 sticks... Will this PSU handle that card?

Thanks......

The card is rated at 500w which leaves 300w for the rest of the sytem which I wouldn't do with that many hdd's and a high overclock, but then again card power ratings are usually very safe so I wouldn't expect it to actually use up to 500w but I can't say for certain. Reviews for it are just coming out so wait until one of the reliable sites does a review with a power consumption test. Anandtech will probably have that in their review but they usually take a while to release the review.

It will peak at almost 500W so this is the correct value to take into account.
Games won't drain that much power but benchmarking would ;)

It might work. I personally wouldn't chance it.

My system pulls down around 740W under full load (Intel Burn Test and Furmark at the same time) and around 550-670W while gaming (Crysis 3, BF4) according to my killawatt.

Specs on my system:
Asus 990FX Sabertooth R2.0, AMD FX 8350 @ 5.2Ghz @ 1.48Vcore, Corsair H100i(Push/Pull),
16GB (2x8GB) Kingston Beast DDR3 2400, Dual liquid cooled AMD Radeon R9 290s,
Cooler Master V1000 PSU, Sound Blaster Z, Fractal Design R4 Case, Crucial M4 128GB SSD, WD 2TB Green, WD 1TB Green, 3x Asus VG248QE in Eyefinity

Hello ish416, i have a question about ur system...(excuse my english) i saw that u said (dual liqiud cooled r9 290s) that means u have 2x r9 290? crossfire? i am wondering because i have the 8350 too...and lot of ppl says about bottlenecking...so i am wondering if mine will do or not...look my system is this : fx 8350 no oc. , 16 gigs rams kingston 1866mhz cl10, asrock 990fx extreme9 , AX860 ,GTX 650 . Please so much tell me about bottlenecking...if 8350 does or not at 2x r9 290x .. becasue im thinking to get 2x r9 290x on the future...or r9 295x2...and that's why i asking :) .. and if u can do some videos with crysis 3 or something else it will be fine :) thx !

The 8350 with 2 R9 290s in crossfire perform roughly the same across multiple systems.

I have ran them on my 8350 @ stock speeds and 5.2Ghz. I have also ran them on a 4.5 Ghz I5 2500k and an I7 980 @ 4 Ghz. Performance is nearly the same in all situations.

I run 3 monitors in eyefinity, otherwise I don't think I would have purchased the second 290 as a single one is more than capable of running any game at max settings @ 1080p.

and yeah u have right...1 is more than enough for 1080...but i still want to find out if it's bottlenecking them...if u can do a video or something and monitoring ur gpu usage and fps..it will be great...but anyway..if u can't is np...i just want ur answer if bottlenecking that 2 r9 290..and i want u to tell me ur gpu usage .. thx

I haven't noticed any CPU or GPU bottlenecks in most games. Some games like Hitman Absolution and Metro Last Light, only use about 40% CPU and 60% of both GPUs. I believe it is more of a crossfire scaling issue than anything else as overclocking the CPU and GPU makes no difference on these games. Also, on these games the second card hardly makes any difference in benchmark scores.

Games like Crysis 3 will use nearly 100% CPU and 100% GPU, same with BF4 and Thief. Tomb Raider scales nearly 100% with the second 290.

So, I can tell you that in nearly all situations, there is not a bottleneck, especially with the 8350 overclocked. I would make a video but my upload speeds are currently 128Kbps. To upload even a 2 minute video @ 720P would take hours.

aha , ok thx for all ur infos...uhm..i know when is below 90-80% usage there is bottleneck...ofcorse i saw all of this processors 3770 , 4770k , 8350 with 2 video cards like 290x or 780 ti they cannot run always at 99-100%...they run them between 80-100%...but when is below 80 like 40-60% usage..there is a masive bottleneck...im not sure if that is right but...when video card is at 99-100% it gives u full fps in combination with ur processor...but when is not at 100%...it won't give u full fps...is that right? i saw on youtube ppl 1 with 8350 and 2x 7970 use gpus is 30-50 on tomb raider...and fps is 20-40..but also i saw a man with 8350 and 2x 7970 usage 99-100% both...and gets 100fps + ...like 120 fps something like that
do u know from what cames that bottleneck? maybe it's from power supply? not enough watts? or maybe the motherboard limit the cpu? ( SOORY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH ) ... THX for infos..MAYBE if u can't upload...some screen shots it will be great, Thx !

and yeah...u have right...depends on the games maybe...because i have gtx 650...in most games my gpu usage is 100%..but in anygames bad optimized i don't get full usage..and maybe because of drivers too.
