Are you sure the pc-e connectors included with the psu will be enough for two gtx 780s?

I believe it has 6 6+2 pin connectors. Each card takes 2 8 pin connectors

Yes, it will work perfectly. The Ax860 comes with 6 x 6+2 pin connectors, each 780 should require either 2 8 pin (6+2) or 1 8 pin and 1 6 pin for a total of 4 out of the 6 being used.

heres a review from the newegg page, it would appear this person was able to run 2 780s (although at a high power draw he mentions) this could depend and vary widely on the rest of the components though in his and your rig.

v\This review is from: CORSAIR AX series AX860 860W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready
Pros: The power supply has been performing flawlessly and i actually hear the large 120 mm fans on the top of my case more than the the powersupply.

Cons: The only problem is that i didn't anticipate how much power draw there would be with two 780 gtxs that are water cooled. I thought I would be around the 860 watt mark with a pump, 6 fans, two 780 gtx sli, a ssd, and two hdds. It runs fine until i hit a taxing game while overclocked. Causes my system to reboot immediately. This is my fault for not anticipating the power draw.

hmm, so are you implying that 860 watts wouldn't be enough? The only other component I have that is overclocked would be the cpu, would that cause a problem?

If you're curious here's the rest of my whole build:
cpu: i7 4770k (overclocked to around 4.0 to 4.3 ghz)
cpu cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212
gpu: 2 EVGA gtx 780s
motherboard: ASUS Maximus Hero VI
psu: Corsair ax 860
ram: Corsair Vengeance (2x8gb) LP
a cd/dvd rom (Haven't chose one yet)
hdd: Western Digital 1tb
ssd: Samsung 840 evo 250gb

id say its pushing it kinda close to a concerning load, but not unsafe (and maybe thats just me, i want to be at 50-60% psu load). If you have problems you can consider ditching the DVD drive (extra unneeded power draw, u can install windows from a USB stick and d/l games), also downclock the CPU to stock. the AX series are great units, i think it will handle it fine.

Well the main purpose of this build was to be able to upgrade certain things in the future, and I was definitely planning on adding more ssds or hdds to the system, but now I'm concern it won't be able to handle it :(

Although I could take out the cd drive, I do use it every now and then (for burning cds to my pc and vice versa and installing software and games); so I'm afraid that may be a necessity.

Should just move to a 1200 watt, I know it's kind of drastic for this build but it's the next step up in the ax series and will most definitely be sufficient in powering this build.

the AX 1000 unit should be fine if thats around. i would say 1000 quality watts from Seasonic, XFX, or Antec would be best.

No problem, Seasonic is the brand I trust most for power supplies (they make about 1/2 of the corsair models too) and the XFX are made by seasonic as well so either of them or the AX would be good.

The ax 1200 is a tier one unit really great. It will leave u with enough headroom for overclocking and upgrades and will be great
