Doesn't have to be for a workstation. A 1230v3 is nothing more than an i7 without IGP, and some added features. It will perform similar to that of an i7 4770 for a good deal less.

I just changed my I5-3570k for a Xeon and I'm very happy with its performance, especially considering its low power consumption and very low temperatures (with an evo 212). Much lower CPU usage I BF4 for example, all 8 threads being well used.

Buy a cheap PCI-E card for graphics then, for now, even if it is a used one. Any PCI-E graphics card should work.
