Which is best for wireless networking.....Static or DHCP...???

Solution
Doing Static, along with other security measures, is more secure. But by no means, is Static or DHCP to be used as your only method of security. MAC address filtering, WPA2 security encryption with Letters, numbers, and characters if your router allows should be used as your network key. Hide the SSID from broadcasting as well. Setting static IP's for the PC's based on MAC address.

Solution
Static or DHCP in itself does absolutly nothing for security.

In wireless Static would actually be not desired if the devices are going to be on any other wifi networks besides your own as the static IP you set on each device might not work on other networks, then you would have to manualy change the settings for every network you want to join, and then change it back when you get home.

My router has dhcp server but it is set to statically set the smae IP address for the devices I specify.

For security measures Freakboi talked about the major ones. You should have a strong wifi password with at least upper, lower, and numbers if not also special characters. You can take it a step further with mac filtering (only allowing the approved mac addresses you specify), and not broadcasting your SSID will "hide" your network from people who are not too tech savey.

Hiding the SSID and setting up MAC address will be covered by your routers manual. The SSID will be good, if the router accepts the underscores as part of the name.
You will also need to look up the WPA2 encryption setup information in the routers manual.

All you stop with mac filtering and hiding the ssid is 15yr old wanna be hackers. It is trivial to get past these you might as well not even bother to waste your time to set up mac filters. Because MOST people use encryption now days the hacker will always go after the easy target. Unless someone leaves it more open that you that would be your router.

If you are very lucky all that will happen is you get cease and desist letter saying you are going to get sued for stealing movies. If you get someone using your system to post child porn or threaten government offices you will find out when they kick your door down and confiscate all your equipment. If you do not plan to encrypt you are better off not doing anything then they will be more likely to believe you that did not know the risk to leaving a system open.
