I am looking into building my first PC. I am wanting to replace my Dell Inspiron 530 that has an Athlon II x4 630, a NVIDIA GT 610, and 6GB of RAM, I currently use my PC mainly for streaming media and watching movies, I play a heavily modded Fallout 3, and a vanilla Fallout NV that I plan on modding in the future. I also play Team Fortress 2 and Civilizations V. I just got into using emulators as well.

I plan on building a small form factor PC that I can use as my main rig for now, In the near future I would like to play Bioshock Infinite, Titanfall, and the new Civilizations. In a year I want to dedicate it to the family room as a N64/Gamecube/Wii console that can be used to play some PC games and my Bluray collection, also to connect to my home network and play movies that I have stored on my network,

I will order everything from Newegg, and Hopefully will be building within the next two months.

I chose the FM2 CPU over a FX part because I have a clear upgrade path with AMD releasing Carrizo next year.

I have a 1TB Segate Barracuda that I can carry over from my old PC

The PSU I chose because of the short cable kit available from Silverstone that will make building in the 250D a lot more pleasent I think.

I chose the faster memory in case I decide to upgrade to a Carrizo APU in 2015.

My questions are;

Is this a good build for my intended uses?

What kind of overclocking can I expect with the mITX board that is a little less than enthusiast grade? (Iv'e read that the 750K can be pushed up over 5 GHz)

Is this a good graphics card to pair with this CPU?

Will the absence of a L3 cache really hurt my gaming performance?

I assume you're already aware that there is no option for manual VCore in the bios? The motherboard will over volt the APU resulting in more heat and a higher power consumption; something that kinda obfuscates the point of a low powered APU/CPU in the first place. I read that the maximum, depending on how far you're willing to go, was 4.5GHz (x45) CPU and 1029MHz on the GPU core, which was with a Noctua NH-U12S cooler, before volts (and even still) temperatures ran too high for comfort.

At that configuration the score on 3DMark11 was around 2000.

IMHO, that's just too slow for today's games, so I do think the missing L3 is a significant downside. I'm not much for emulation, so I can't speak to that, but for today's heavy hitter PC titles that's going to be creeping around 20 fps on max settings at 1920 by 1080. So really it depends what you're expecting.

I wouldn't use it as a "main" rig, but I guess you said it's only going to be doing that for a year. But shoot, I just don't really how much of an upgrade it is over your current main rig... Anyone else chime in on this?
