My motherboard is a socket 1150 ASRock B85 Pro4, my GPU is a Powercolor R9 270x, and my power supply is a Raidmax 535W (80+ Bronze).

I just finished putting this computer back together after RMAing both the motherboard and the GPU (long, annoying story). I'm pulling my hair out because this wonderful lump of metal still doesn't work. When I plug in my graphics card, my computer doesn't POST. It works normally without it (using internal graphics).

I went through the BIOS (without the GPU plugged in, I can't get to the BIOS otherwise because nothing is displayed on the screen) and ensured that the default graphics setting was PCI-Express. I switched it to internal graphics just to see what would happen if I plugged my screen into my iGPU while the PCI-E GPU was plugged in, and I found that it just sits on the ASRock splash screen (it literally just says "ASRock" and nothing else). I let it sit for a few minutes and it didn't do anything at all. I updated the BIOS just to be sure, and this motherboard is new out of the box so I doubt that clearing CMOS will do anything (correct me if I'm wrong).

Please give me some suggestions before I throw this thing out the window. And apologies if I sound like a grump, I've just never had so many issues with a computer before. I built this thing only 3 months ago, and I've only gotten to use it for less than a month because of all of these issues.

Sounds fun!
Make sure you plug the monitor into your motherboard port first (not the gpu) and install those drivers. After that, you can reboot, move the monitor to the gpu port, and hopeflly it will work.

And yes, Raidmax is garbage...

I didn't know that Raidmax was a crappy brand. I've always had good experiences with them. Lesson learned I suppose. And I cleared my CMOS just to be sure just now, to no avail. I suppose I could test my parts on another PSU in a couple of days.

Thanks for your input, all of you.

Have you figured anything out yet? I have the exact same issue with the same mobo and GPU and a Corsair CXM 500W PSU.
