Hi folks!

Long time reader, first time poster, as I have been pulling out my hair and reaching out to contacts left and right on this issue! I just can't seem to figure out what the heck is causing it and I'm hoping the folks here that have helped in the past (much without knowing) can once again save the day!

Issue:
While in a game such as DayZ Stand Alone, DayZ Epoch mod or Path of Exhile, the game will play just fine. However, periodically, the video will lag/freeze up, typically for 1-2 seconds at a time and sometime longer. Outside of the games, initially I was experiencing a lot of applications such as AMD CCC not responding for a fairly long period of time (2-3 minutes) periodically. However, more recently, that hasn't been much of an issue, just the in game.

Note - Issue started occurring after upgrading my GPU and changing out the PSU as well as transferring all my hardware into a new case.

Steps taken thus far:

  • CPU test with Intel Burn Test - Successful
  • GPU tested against FurMark - 80-87 FPS;Celsius; though it did often show some % information below the temp (bottom left) dropping from 98% to 63% fairly often, not sure if that was a bad thing.
  • RAM tested against Windows mem test and a third party (forgot name) - both successful
  • PSU is new, just purchased as last one died - http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Builder-Series-Bronze-Cer...
  • All test performed against latest GPU drivers and several against Beta drivers - same results
  • GPU is new (R9 280x)
  • Defragged HDD - Same results
  • Formatted HDD - Same results
  • Attempted same test case against an older HDD I had lying around - Same results
  • Changed the GPU overclock settings (lowered/increased) - Same results
  • Turned off power, took out mobo battery and reset the CPU OC to default - Same results
  • Installed and ran GameBooster - initially saw improvement, may be why I'm not witnessing CCC not responding (doubtful), but issue is still same
  • CPU temp - normal
  • GPU temp - normal
  • In case average temp 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit

  • Again, I'm seriously at a lost at this point. I've been running the FurMark test full screen and haven't witnessed any of the issues seen in game thus far. Though I admit I am not giving it my 100% attention as I'm working from home whole doing this...

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm at a roadblock here and I'm on the side of the road banging my head against the wall....:(

Not directly helpful, but i had (still do have ocasionaly) freeze ups ingame as well, meaning i couldn't even alt+tab, then after x amount of seconds it resumed normaly. It drasticly reduced over time after i flashed main bios (since the system was new, the mobo didn't have new bios yet) and with newer versions of Catalyst packs.
I've also heard from a guy that everytime that started happening for him, he had to reinstall Catalyst as a temp fix.
