Im interested in a new card. Im willing to spend around $200. Until now ive been looking at the msi r9 270. I would love a comparison bewtween cards around that pricerange. Im doing basic 1080p gaming on a 22 inch monitor. I have an intel i7 2600 3.4 ghz 16 gigs of ram. im currently using a radeon Hd 6450.

This card is a little more, how does it compare gaming wise, and your saying it saphiremore reliable? Im only going to use this card for gaming, no video editing or animating.

Sapphire is a more reliable brand with better customer support and warranty. MSI isn't far behind but I'd choose the Sapphire if it's not much more.

sapphire is amd's biggest gpu board partner and they make great video cards. but msi is a monster board partner too for both amd and nvidia and msi is agruably, along with gigabyte, the largest of the board partners for both nvidia and amd. evga is nvidias largest board partner. asus is also a board partner for nvidia and amd but not quite as big as msi or gigabyte.

msi makes great stuff, when it comes down to it, i would prefer a sapphire but i wouldn't pass on an msi card if im getting a good deal. it really depends on the card and its features. but honestly all the big 5 board partners are reliable and are large companies with no reason to put out a bad product.

Is either of those cards better suited for gaming?

the 270x is in a sense an overclocked 270... but its still just the same pitcairn gpu with 1280 streams. the 270x's are very likely binned and run at a lower voltage while holding higher core clocks than the 270 counterparts. that said you can very easily overclock a 270 and it will pass up the performance of the 270x but the 270x probably has a little more headroom for overclocking because its binned. the 270x, at least in the usa, is so close in price to the gtx760 that i believe the 270 is a better buy.
