Hey guys, i'm getting very low fps on most games on my new GTX 780. In some games like Batman Arkham City where my fps should be flying by the 100's im getting between 30 - 60 fps and in Skyrim i'm getting between 25 - 62 even though the game is not modded, I've looked almost everywhere and can't find a solution, in every other forum people just tell the OP to turn V-Sync off or to unpark their cores, I've also checked GPU-Z but kinda clueless lol.
This is my current build running on Windows 8.1
- Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz
-Motherboard
- GPU EVGA GTX 780
- 8GB Ram Kingston Blu
- Samsung 250gb ssd
- PSU Corsair CX750

I have the latest Nvidia drivers and no idea what is causing my build to underperform. Please help me pros of tomshardware and masters of the internets.

There is no way your CPU is bottlenecking. Ignore that post. I ran an i5 3330 3.0 with a GTX 780 Classified and didn't bottleneck it.

Can you run GPU-Z tell us the GPU loads and temperatures. Also check to see if GPU is noticing anything causing incompatibility issues.

Make sure all Drivers are for sure up to date. Make sure you've upgraded to the latest Bios Release!

Do a virus scan.

Try turning off the computer take the video care out than re-seat it in the PCIEx16 Slot.

The CPU is probably holding the card back the most. Since that core is locked and cannot be overclocked, try to use turbo boost to see if the performance goes up. The CPU is bottlenecking so you have to take care of that problem first. If you need to upgrade, probably buy and i5 4670k or non K if you don't overclock.

Edit: CPU should be fine and I know nothing about Intel CPUS

What Resolution are you gaming at?>

Did you buy your games or download them on the internet?
"If you downloaded a cracked version online then this might explain your poor performance"

Skyrim unless you use a bunch of mods is not difficult to run.

Do you use a monitoring software like Afterburner or Precision X?

I don't think your CPU is the problem.

Could it be possible that the problem is Bios related? The card is in x16 slot already and I made a complete virus scan with malware bytes and nothing came up. Also how do i check if my GPU has any incompatibility issues?

I took this screenshots while playing Arkham City on the highest settings.

It also says that the slot runs at x1 .Maybe that reseating the card will help next to a bios update if you don't have the latest.
With the next program can you see which bios you have,
hwinfo32
open it click run,two windows will open, the top one is the system summary in which on the right half in the middle you can find your bios version.

I clicked on best answer by accident cause i am an idiot but i know you will help me anyway. I updated my BIOS and made sure that my card is sitting in the only PCI 3.0 Express port but GPU-Z and HWINFO still tell me that it is sitting on a 2.0 port, i don't know if that could be the problem, and if it is how can i fix it?

HW info and confirmed that you're using the second one from the top the PCI Express 2.0 16x slot.

Put your card in the top slot however in theory it shouldn't make a big difference it's worth a try.

Good luck !

My card is already in the top slot that's why i think there is something weird going on. Which drivers should i update and where from?

Thanks for helping :)

Why is this reporting i5 2400? That will explain the PCIe ver 2.0 since Sandy does not support 3.0.

Based on the fact that hwinfo shows a i5 2400, 2.0 @ x16 is what the pcie slot should be running at.

While playing that game it seems to have been stuck @ pcie 2.0 x1 before.

Since you updated your drivers and reseated the card, and looking by the later screenshot it should be running fine now right?

You don't get pcie 3.0 on a 2400.

It's a sandybridge. The op doesn't have a haswell
4440 as stated according to hw monitor and the motherboard is also from the previous generation.

Dips in Bat man makes sense with physx on high and aa at max but Skyrim shouldn't have any problems unless the op installed mods.

I will unselect that, you probably could have too.

Any thoughts about the difference in system specs? Haven't heard from you after that discovery.Maybe hwinfo64 makes an error there, with me does hwinfo32 it always right.

GPU-Z will report the PCIe slot at x1 when idle. To test it under a load press that little "?" next to the readout.

I think you need to check your game specific sightings in the Nvidia Control Panel. you probably have too much anti aliasing turned on or some other odd setting.

Sorry the processor is really 2400, my bad. Does that mean that my GTX 780 is bottlenecked? Should i get a new processor and a new mobo? Cause i'm already considering it.
