hi i just build a cpu from my old parts for my parents for social network but i want to test it so that it will work smooth with them.

Specs:
Core2duo e7400
GT 440 2gb ddr3
Intel DG33TL
4gb Ram
Antec Earthwatts 350w 80plus

Now my problem is why does GT 440 uses so low GPU Usage. tried to benchmark it on playing BF3 and MW2, MW3..it only uses 15% of its Usage. its like something is holding it cause tha fans also spins very slow. Tried plugging my old 9500gt also it spins kinda slow and cant maximize its gpu usage to 20%. Drivers are up to date Nvidia 335.23

I did try to adjust fan run at 100% but it doesnt spin like its in 100%. Both from GT 440 and 9500gt what could be the problem. is it my psu not supplying enough power.

Solution

The only problem it could be if it were the PSU, is if you didn't have the right power connectors connected to the graphics card. Graphics cards don't choose the power they consume due to your PSU, the power it needs is the power it gets, if the wattage was too low the PC would crash, most likely a blue screen.

What slot do you have your graphics card in?

The fan speed is an indicator of the GPU is not under load, though it does not say that the card under performing in some sense.

You should have enough power for that setup. Nvidia recommends a min. of 300w. Do you have a larger power supply you can connect temporarily to test that? That would eliminate or confirm a PSU problem.

Thanks for the reply guys been waiting for some people to help me for 3 days.. Well i did manage to figure out the problem i uninstalled the GPU Drivers and made some clean installation of it. Now my 9500gt is getting 90-95% gpu usage so no problem.

Now with my GT 440 it still spins very slow so i took it out and put it in my main rig..and test it there i was shock that it still spins very slow so i think my conclusion is that its fan is faulty. Also i still can get the GPU to process that much of GPU Usage may be its programmed not to use so much GPU Usage if its fan is not spinning well.
