I have a HP Pavilion PC a6057c. Product # GC517AA#ABA. My issue is that when I connect my graphics card (ATI RADEON™ HD 5600 Series) the PC does not boot. The fans go on and the power button lights up. But that is it. My monitor doesn't get a signal from the tower at all. Once I power down my pc again, disconnect the cables, etc...take out the graphics card and start the pc up again everything works fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've tried the whole disabling the onboard graphics. Also have it on "pci" as opposed to "onboard". I do NOT have a "pci-e" option.

I had this same graphics card in another PC and it works fine. Once I put it in and connected it the PC recognized it and I was able to set it up.

Please HELP! :??:

I have an Antec VP 450W Power Supply. Which is more than enough to support the card itself. As far as updating my bios...I can't. There are no bios updates for motherboard I have unfortunately.

Hmm you might be out of luck. A friend of mine had to get a new motherboard because his old one would not take a new card (HD 5770), although that was an old nvidia nforce chipset.

Strange that there is not PCI-E option, it might be called "PEG". If this is your pc, there might be one bios update according to this(unless already installed):

Edit: Hmm, according to this thread it might be an incompatibility with the pci-e 2.1 standard. If you could trade your card for another equivalent card that is pci-e 2.0 you could be ok. (maybe HD 4000 series or Nvidia 400 series?)

I tried the bios update. It isn't allowing me to because I have Windows 7 on the PC and not Vista. :-( Ugh!
