Right CPU for Socket?

There is a bit of controversy as to if this will work or not:

I have an old desktop with an AMD Sempron 3100+ (32 bit) processor and according to CPU world it is a Socket 754. I was looking to get a cheap upgrade to an Athlon 64 so I looked at CPU world at found (one of the) best socket 754 CPU's, the Athlon 54 3400+, but some places say it is a socket 939 CPU. Any clarification?

CPU World socket 754 cpus: http://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket%20754.html

There was a Athlon 54 3400+ made for both sockets. Just make sure you're ordering the right one.
