USB 3.0 Hard Drive not detected after computer starts up

Hi,

I recently upgraded my motherboard to an Asrock Z87 Extreme 4. Before this, I only had USB 2.0 ports, and my USB Hard Drive loaded up just fine after rebooting.

Even after the new mobo upgrade, my USB HDD was detected after starting up my PC. However, I noticed lag when transferring files, so I found the USB 3.0 Drivers on the Asrock website. (Intel USB 3.0 driver ver:2.5.0.19)

I installed it and transferring files was just fine. However, my computer would not detect my USB HDD after starting up. I'd have to remove the USB plug, and plug it back in for it to be detected.

Uninstalling the USB 3.0 drivers made the USB HDD be detected on startup again, but of course I lose the advantages of the 3.0 drivers.

Can anyone help with this? Any way to keep the USB 3.0 drivers and fix the detection issue?

I go to device manager when it doesnt load on start up and see it with a yellow icon saying it cannot start. It cannot find any further drivers when I ask to update. Uninstalling it and rebooting does not change anything either. Happens in all other USB ports as well. My phone loads up immediately along with my 360 controller. So I assume this seems to be HDD-specific.

Yes, I have a USB keyboard and mouse. The USB HDD works in other PCs, it seems its my drivers. It works on my PC without the drivers, just laggy. I have no idea how to fix this.

Go to the HDD website and download the drivers for the particular Windows you've got. As I said, if Windows is doing it's job, it should do a pop-up screen when you attach the hdd asking if you want to get drivers for the hdd. Sometimes it can't find them - on your pc or the internet. Then you have to do what I've suggested.

No drivers from Windows, even when replugging in and it recognizes it. Still doesn't recognize on reboot. There are no particular drivers for the seagate goflex that I can see. I even downloaded the dashboard/hdd testing app and still nothing. Very weird.

Bump, I still have this issue even with a new mobo. Before downloading the Intel USB 3.0 drivers, my hdd would show up on start up without needing to replug it. After installing it, my external HDD will not show up on start up unless I replug it in.
