I have a Dell XPS 720 with a 750W PSU, if I were to buy a new motherboard, CPU & GPU, could I remove the old and replace with the new parts in my case as it stands now?

I'd like to keep me 8gb of ram and my Hard drive, but I game and I'd like to upgrade it. Right now I got, Intel 2 quad Q6600 at 2.4ghz, And Radeon HD 6870. I new to PC n I like playing Arma 3, DayZ and Planetside 2 but even on low settings my frames suck.

You'll also have to replace your copy of Windows. Dell is a proprietary system, and that copy won't work without the Dell motherboard.

Best bet, sell the old system for whatever you can get for it, out that money in addition to your budget and start from scratch completely custom. That way you are no longer tied to anything proprietary.
