New SSD causing random application crashes

Okay, so this is a weird one. Recently got myself a Crucial M500 240GB SSD to replace my main drive in my Desktop. Full fresh install of Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit, only taking up 60GB of space.

It's recently been throwing out unusual errors and problems such as memory errors or sometimes just closing the application down itself in the background. This isn't limited to one application either; Firefox, Chrome, Steam, Avast, Skype, even alt-tabbed fullscreen games.
I ran Windows Memory Test which came up with no errors in the RAM so I'm pretty certain it's not an issue there; most of these componants are in the same configuration as before I got the SSD so I know that something has changed as a result of this new hard drive.

I wouldn't always ask, but this one has really stumped me. Can anyone help me out?

System Specs -
i7 3770k 3.5Ghz
MSI Z77A-G45 Motherboard
8GB DDR3 Dual Chan 800Mhz (CPUz)
Geforce GTX 560 Ti
Crucial M500 240GB SSD (Main Drive)
Western DIgital 500GB 7200RPM (Steam Drive, old Main Drive)

check the smart values for it with crystal disk info for example. if the ssd has problems it will report them using smart values.
install the latest intel inf drivers for the motherboard and check for bios upgrades that fix anything sata related. it can even be a cable problem...

I updated my SSD's firmware however after some time the problem began occuring again. Skype still crashes during operation and when left idle, as with my browsers. Happily I don't think my Antivirus and Graphics applications are still crashing so I think it made a dent.

I've ran Intel's Chipset Device Software installer, didn't seem to make any difference. I'm looking to update my BIOS today however trying last night caused my BIOS to hang for an extended period.

I also managed to get Crystal Disk working, not sure what the smart data shows but hopefully this is of some use:

You have some "Unknown" entries in CrystalDiskInfo and some listed as "Vendor Specific" You are showing data from version 5.6.2 of this program. The current version is 6.1.12. I suggest that you D/L and update to the latest version to see if that may reveal what some of these unknown, non-zero entries show: http://crystalmark.info/download/index-e.html

I installed the latest version but it seems that the SSD is fine

I'm not sure what else could be causing the issues i'm having, they seem to get more frequent as time goes on; I'd reopen Steam for the third time today and Skype would just crash, not to mention the amount of times Flash Player has crashed for no reason.

I have but the problem still persists.

These fixes seem to resolve the issues for a short period, but after a few hours the problems return. The weird thing is even if I power down or reset, it still has these issues and they occur randomly.
