On power up all fans spin then gpu fan dies instantly then the beep code 1 long 3 short i know this card worked in my old system a week ago and now no love? Please help!

Could you give information about rest of system?

Need to know CPU, Motherboard and Power Supply details as a minimum.

Someone else had a similar problem recently and corrected the problem with a bios update (just a thought).

Alternatively it could be a setting in the bios (you may need to change the setting for display initiation to auto select from integrated for example).

Ok so I gather this is a new build then?

Re-seating the graphics card might help. Also you could try clearing the cmos memory (there should be a button or jumper connection on the motherboard to do that- note if its the latter you move to the 'clear cmos position' for a few seconds, then put it back to the normal position before attempting to boot the system).

Everything except the r7 250 is new as i went from a fm2 sockect to am3 and i can try clearing cmos although last time i did so on a previous mobo it completely screwed it up somehow so a little apprehensive lol

Looking at that motherboard- there are 2 PCIe x 16 slots: have you tried the card in both slots? Ideally it should be in the top (blue) slot.

I've had a look in detail at your motherboard- apparently it only supports the FX6300 with a bios update to 1006 from 0208. That might be part of you're problem. I guess you don't have another AM3 cpu about to test in it?

Yh i have tried both slots with same results and and ahh i see and no funny enough i dnt so i can use the bios usb flashback thing on this mobo to update bios... So my guess is that on initial startup when gpu fan spins thats before post and then when the cpu isnt compatible it stops sending power to pcie slots?

Possibly- often when you put a newer cpu in than the bios supports (but is otherwise compatible with) it will start up with an error or 'unknown' for cpu type. That's probably more luck than judgement though.

I still think clearing the cmos isn't a bad idea to try- I can't find on the website what the mechanism is, however *if* its a jumper just remember to put it back to normal before booting up and you shouldn't have a problem (if its a push button then that's pretty safe as it just temporarily breaks the connection).

Ok so as far as i can tell i have updated bios to the lastest version using bios flashback... And cleared cmos but still no change still getting the no vga detected beep code!

Ah that's a nice tool Asus have there...

Ok- so now the board shoudl be up to date and still no graphics output. However you've mentioned that the card works in another machine? It sounds like you've got a faulty motherboard.

The only other thing I can suggest you check is test out the power supply in a different *working* machine as a faulty supply can cause all sorts of strange problems. Also probably worth double checking that graphics board is ok in another machine.

Also it's worth trying re-seating the ram (even though the error is for graphics), or even testing the modules out in another machine. The key is to try and eliminate each item as the culprit. It does sound like the motherboard is suspect though.

If it's a new build you should be able to return it to the supplier for a replacement free of charge.
