i was planning to buy a new gpu to play new games at 1366*768 resolution and i have a core 2 duo e8400(not going to upgrade in near future)

will it bottleneck a gtx 750 ti at this resolution.will the gameplay get affected or will it allow me to play modern games even at low settings.

The 750 ti is very similar to the gtx 650 ti boost in terms of performance. I owned the e8400 and still own 650 ti boost. I put them together and they worked fine. No bottleneck noticed when gaming. However, it is very close to a bottleneck. It, of course, also depends on what games you play and what other tasks you do. But in general it wil work fine, you can probably run something higher than just the 'low' settings on most modern games.

Stock E8400 (older prebuilt) and an MSI oc gtx 750ti work very well together. I have been using Logitech ARX control on my tablet to watch what's going on in game and I see them BOTH hitting 100% at times on some games. I'd bet the e8400 could use an even MORE powerful gpu like a 380 or a gtx 960 especially if overclocked! Watching the 750 ti hit 100% too often with a 19"- 1440x900 playing say, just cause 2 on ultra etc. I could tune the game down but it looks great and i notice no lag nor stuttering so.. no complaints there! Newer and more demanding games I def DO turn graphics down.. both for the cpu and the gpu. It DOES play planetside 2 on low and has some stuttering issues (cpu there)
