Hey, I currently have a Sapphire 270x, with a Asrock Fatal1ty Performance Series motherboard and i'm considering purchasing another 270x in running with crossfire with i7 4770

Do they perform well together? Upgrading to ect a 290x is out of the question because I would have wasted a reasonably new 270x. Should I spend the money and purchase another 270x, or will it perform poorly on games such as BF4, should I save my money or go for it? I've read a few things on the internet saying 270x is crossfire perform better that a GTX 780 or a 290.

Also they're a few things around saying crossfire is very 'buggy' and can perform bad on certain games, surely AMD would have fixed those bugs by now?

Thanks for your time.

well, crossfire does have some problems with it, such as microstutter, and not all games support it. a 270X crossfire will perform pretty good, around a 290 or 780 like you said, however you have to consider the future. if you crossfire a 270x right now, the next time you need an upgrade you will have to ditch both 270x's and get a single card, because 3-way crossfirex and sli is pretty cruddy. your best bet would be to either sell the 270x and but a 290(X) or 780 (Ti) or, keep the 270x and use it in another mid-level computer, or, if you are happy with your performance right now, then just keep what you have and ave your money untill you really need to upgrade.

But if you are limited, go for the Crossfire. You will get a very noticeable FPS boost.

if you have a game which you can't play due to fps problems the crossfire and 2nd 270x will in most cases get you anywhere between 0-75% more fps with your config. but as you read it depends on the game not all are optimized for crossfire, in some cases it just doesn't improve performance. bf4 is not one of them.

the problem with it is that when you do find later on another game that you can't play due to low fps you end up with 2 cards that you need to get rid off and get a better graphics card, not just 1 like now. the config is pretty much maxed out once you get the second one and crossfire. with a single 290 or 780 there's always the option to add a second one for that extra performance.

if you're the type that expect everything will work out of a box or want CF support on day one of game launch then multi gpu isn't for you.

Thanks for all the help guys I really appreciate it. I decided to stick with the single 270x until it cant be ran with high/ultra settings any more. Then I would most likely upgrade to a 290x or 780ti but that's another whole discussion.
