Hello,

I have troubles picking the right cable for connecting external antenna to my AP. I have pigtail for connecting external antenna to AP but I need something longer than 10cm. Pigtail is male-male connector.

I tried to pick cable online, but there is quite a lot of different kinds (polarized, non-polarized) and when I tried to look for pigtails there are different kinds of it too (RG174, RF240, H155). I have 10cm pigtail now and I need cable/pigtail atleast 20cm long to reach antenna.

So my questions are:
1) Should I buy long pigtail (not sure if there are longer than 15cm - didn't find)?
2) If I should buy cable, then what type of cable?

HARDWARE:
AP: Ubiquiti UniFi AP Outdoor (datasheet: http://dl.ubnt.com/datasheets/unifi/UniFi-AP-DS.pdf)
Antenna: RF Elements MIMO Sector 2,4 GHz 90

Thanks for any tips

The main difference is the rf240 performs better at higher frequencies. If you were using a 5g radio you would want to go with the rf240 cable. It also performs a bit better at the 2.4g you are going to use but at the short length you plan it may be so little you can't tell. I suspect the rf240 costs a lot more so it is not likely worth the extra

You can likely find a company that will make you a cable any length you like with whatever ends you need. The main difference in the cable is the amount of signal loss. In general the less loss the larger the cable is physically and the most it costs.

Buying cable and the connectors really is only a option if you have the tools to put the ends on. Many times you need different tools for different cable. It will likely be cheaper to pay a company to make you a custom length cable. Your other option would be to get premade cables with N type of connectors that are sold in lots of lengths and then adapt them to the type of connector you need.

Thank you for response. How can I adapt N type connector? Well my question is what do I need to buy with N type connector cable? And if I buy N type conn. cable do I use it to extend the pigtail or replace the pigtail?

The easiest way would be for me to find a company willing to make those cables but I'm not sure what kind of company I have to look for (we have small IT rescue companies nearby and then only huge companies targeting businesses)
Thanks

I found two different pigtails with the same connectors (on picture it seems the same as mine) and I dont know what's the difference between them. Which one I should use?

Pigtail RpSMA-F / RpSMA-F 1m cable H155
Pigtail RpSMA-F / RpSMA-F 1m cable Belden RF240 6GHz

Thanks

Thanks for explaining. Actually both cables cost the same (4 euro) so I went with rf240. Hope this will work without troubles :)
