Hi guys, i need a help about my problem:
i recently installed 3x2gb ram and now i have 6x2gb (i already had 3x2 gb ram). Speccy notice that all my 6 slots are occupied and that i have 12gb but it tells me that i only have 8gb physical ram.
I installed all the blocks separatley and they all work in every slot. It just seems that i cannot have more than 8gb but it's unlikely to be so (you can see here my specs). My BIOS don't say anything about my full ram it just says i have USABLE: 8184 mb

Windows 8.1 Pro x64
Motherboard - Asus P6T SE X58 (LGA1366)
CPU - Intel Core i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
old ram: Corsair 3x2gb DDR3 1600mhz (CMX6GX3M3A1600C9)
new ram: Corsair 3x2gb DDR3 1600mhz (CM3X2G1600C9) they are the same of the old ones just the new model

Hope you can help me, thanks in advance!!
(ask me anything for more specs or questions)
Michele

If you don't get 12GB showing in Bios you might need to update your BIOS.

Try booting the computer with 2 sticks installed and see what RAM is available. Shut down add 2 more, then shut down again and add the final 2 sticks.

Thanks for your help. I think my BIOS is updated but how can i be sure about that? American Megatrends which is my bios company does not provide updates it says i have to go to the manufacturer site (Asus).
I went here: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P6T_SE/HelpDesk_Downlo...
There's no Windows8 but apparentrly whatever os you chose the bios links are the same... I downloaded the first one (P6T SE 0908 BIOS) is that correct?
I do this thing and then i'll do the booting with 2 sticks at time as you suggested.

I updated the bios.
If i run 2x2 in slots A2 and B2 it works fine on 4gb.
If i run 4x2 in slots A1,A2,B2,C2 it only use 4 out of 8 gb. (the position of the 4x2 is suggested in mobo manual)
If i run 6x2 in all stolts it only use 8gb out of 12.

I also tried to tweak memory frequency and voltage since i read this is a known problem on X58 but still no luck :(

Try raising the QPI/VTT voltage up + 0.1 to + 0.15 i.e. if the QOI/VTT is at 1.1 raise to 1.2 or 1.25 - that's your MC (memory controller) voltage and it usually needs a little extra when all slots are populated

Ok, the minimum for that is 1.2 on my system. I'll raise it to 1.35 while keeping the VDIMM at 1.5 .. i tried QPI/VTT 1.35 and VDIMM 1.65 but it didn't worked at 1333 nor at 1600.. i try that, thanks! I'll let you know soon :)

Tried it but still no luck, it still does not get the triple channel so it's still 8gb :(
