Testing R9 290 On 500w PSU

i have got a corsair cx500w psu and have a r9 290 gpu coming can i test it works fine with this psu untill i upgrade ? i just want to make sure its not DOA

this gpu only uses 100w on idle , i will not be gaming on this 500w psu

i think you can, just DONT use it for gaming or anything gpu-intensive

if you dont plan to use the cx500w for more than a year there is nothing to worry about.

this PSU is on the cheap quality side. . can test your gpu with that but not to use it for high gaminf . .upgrade to psu like seasonic or xfx or evga is good to go

it is good but if you can get like xfx xtr 650 or seasonic 660 ... it will be more good

any recommendations ? that are cheap and in the uk ? does 650w gold rated psu have head room , also the gold rating means it will push more or less what it says on high loads

it is fine PSU but not better then xfx or seasonic . if you want that evga PSU so it is no problem . . you can go for it . .

That EVGA got lower quality. The XFX and seasonic are better built.
