im building a new pc which i typically do about every 4-5 years. Ijust picked out my parts for my new pc and im a little hesitant to buy them because ddr4 will be releasead this year. My current build is about $6000 and i dont want to spend that only to have ddr4 be a necessity for top end gaming in 2 years. I will be playing 1080p surround mode and 4k surround mode, will the bandwidth that ddr3 currently has last me another 4-5 years without affecting my gaming or should i wait for ddr4?

DDR3 should be fine for quite a while. When DDR4 first comes out, it will be pretty expensive. I wouldn't buy it until it's been out for at least a year or so.

Update: Micro Center has great RAM deals. I got 32GB of DDR3 1866MHz RAM for only $240. You have to check the prices online every day, but you will eventually find a great deal.

price of the ddr4 isnt really the issue its more that im worried about ddr3 not being powerful enough in a few years for me to run my games at max settings because i plan to keep this as my main pc for about 5 years like i did with my current one which ive had for 4.5 years right now.
