Hi everyone, ill try and keep it short.

In the next few weeks i will be building my gaming pc with windows 8.1 pro using UEFI native install for the faster boot, restart etc.., i would like to use the fast boot feature which is in windows 8 and 8.1. So i understand that my ssd, graphics card, and motherboard needs to support UEFI GOP, my motherboard which is a asus rampage iv black edition and my samsung 840 pro 512gb does support this.

Now i have been in contact with Asus and they have said that the my GTX 690 does not support the UEFI VBIOS GOP feature out the box (which i have had the card since around april/may 2012) but they have given me a link to the update tool. But since my pc has not been built yet i have installed my 690 into my son's case (motherboard Asus P5KPL-AM SE).

I have downloaded the tool, but it does state on the support section of Asus that the motherboard must support UEFI, i have tried running the program and it gives me a BSOD, it has once started the problem OK but when checking it says motherboard does not support the feature, which is correct my sons does not. But how can i flash my 690 with the GOP update in my sons pc without building my pc first, then i will have to install windows on my pc, download and install the update, then start the fresh install again but this time using a UEFI native install.

Solution
1. This tool only support ASUS MB with UEFI BIOS.
2. Update your ASUS VGA card's VBIOS from legacy VBIOS to UEFI VBIOS.
3. The tool can only be used under Vista, Win7, Win8.
4. The update processing is irreversible.(You cannot use legacy VBIOS any longer).
5. The old legacy VBIOS update on our website cannot be used any longer.

*My advice is just avoid UEFI for now. I flashed my GTX680 and my computer started taking up to ten minutes to fully start so I had to reinstall Windows 8 and everything was good again.

Also, even though I thought I would end up in UEFI mode one of the settings on my Asus board wasn't quite right so I ended up in Legacy anyway. How do you tell? It's hard, but if your C-drive is formatted as NTFS you're still...
