the part i have: INTEL Xeon CPU E5 V2 Quad-Cores 3.2GHz 15MB Cache LGA 2011

I JUST found out that this is a server cpu and was gifted to me by a friend. I have no idea which mobos can take this CPU besides ones with TWO cpu slots (THAT I HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE). I only need this to game and do school work, not looking to go all out. I was hoping to just buy a 'normal-looking' mobo to attach this piece onto.. never knew it'd be this difficult! Please can someone help me out?

Yes any current LGA2011 motherboard on the market should work without even a BIOS update.

CTurbo is incorrect.

The Intel Xeon E5 V2 series microprocessors are derived from the IvyBridge architecture and are functionally similar to the i7-4960x/4930k/4820k microprocessors. You must check your motherboard vendor's website for a list of supported CPUs and the minimum firmware revision necessary to support that CPU. Many consumer motherboards do not support Xeon microprocessors and others may not support all of them so you need to look at it on a case-by-case basis.

thank you for the update! I'm currently looking at http:// and am having difficulty finding out if it's compatible, should i just contact them directly for confirmation? I was wondering if I should just get a server motherboard (something like http://) Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!
