What is the maximum number of partitions I can create on a HDD? I've read that with MBR it's 4 active whereas with GPT it's 128.
If this is so, if I create 30 partitions for example on a GPT drive, can I install XP into one of them and boot off of it?
I'm wanting to take one large HDD, partition it up and install a bunch of different Windows OS's on it for software testing. So I'll be using the major editions of XP, Vista, 7, and 8 and x86 and x64 for each of them where possible (I know XP Home only had x86).
I know that Windows 7 and 8 will boot fine on a HDD that is split into 30 partitions for example. But I don't know if XP or Vista will. And I don't know if only x64 will or if x86 will also.
