Do I Have a Faulty Mobo?

I'm currently breadboarding my first PC build and am concerned that my motherboard may be damaged. With only the Mobo, CPU, stock fan, PSU and speaker plugged in i boot up the system by shorting the power. I hear 3 long beeps that indicate RAM failure (seeing as there is no RAM installed yet) But then when i install 1 RAM stick, or even 2, there are no beeps, but the CPU and PSU fans still spin. Is my motherboard the problem?

EDIT: My Specs: Mobo: ASRock B85 Pro4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
CPU: Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
PSU: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

Again, it depends, but probably. Many computers don't beep during POST, only when there is a problem, and many don't consider no video a problem because technically, you don't need video for it to work, and in fact headless servers and such have no video.

I haven't installed the GPU i bought, nor have i plugged it into my monitor, I feel like the beeps should tell me enough about how it's functioning without having to hook it up my screen shouldn't it?

Maybe I am confused. Why do you think there is a problem? There are no beeps to indicate a problem, right? What are you expecting to happen vs what is actually happening. It sounds to me everything is working as expected based on what you said.

Well so i've read (on this site) That without any RAM installed it should give the 3 long beeps (which it has, cool) and then after I install 1 stick the pattern should change to 1 long beep, followed by 2 or 3 short beeps. But in my case of installing a stick of RAM there is no noise at all. I'm trying to understand what the issue is.

The beep codes depend on the manufacturer and model really. Mine doesn't have any beeps but has an LED display. Everything sounds like it is fine. Just put it all together and turn it on. You don't need to test it every time you install something because honestly, it's not going to work until you have everything necessary installed anyway.

Yes. You are kind of working this backward. Put it together, then start looking for problems if they present themselves. Don't start looking for problems that probably don't exist before you have even finished as least the bare minimum of building.
