I have a PC and I want to connect it to my T.V., but it doesn't have a wireless adapter inside it, so I have to use ethernet. I was wondering since my T.V. is connected to the internet via wifi since it's a smart tv, is it possible to have access to internet by connecting my ethernet cable from the ethernet port on my tv to my ethernet port on my PC?

Any help is appreciated,
Thank You.

Solution
No. It needs to either be connected from the back of the HDTV to the jack on the back of your router/cable modem or it needs to be connected via a wireless network.

My previous suggestion meant not using all the bells and whistles of the smart TV. Your PC can do all of that (and more).

But, I need internet access, not just a display.

Are you saying the internet in your house is only available via wifi and your tv only has ethernet. You have a PC that can get internet via wifi and want to somehow share that ?

The best solution is to not do that and buy a client-bridge...many times called a gaming adapter, it is designed exactly for devices that only have ethernet but need wireless.

If you REALLY want to use your PC as a network device you can go to microsofts site and read about ICS. It will make you PC into a partial router. It does require you to have the PC on at all times and you have to be careful to no run a lot of stuff on the PC as it might impact the network traffic from the tv.

That's the problem, I need internet.
My tv is connected to the internet via wifi, and has an ethernet jack on the back.
Can I connect the ethernet jack from there to my PC?
