Doing a rebuild, do I need a new HDD?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I'm doing a rebuild of Dad's computer, who passed away from cancer last year. Couldn't throw the machine out, so thought I'd do a heavy overhaul (yes I know it will basically be a new machine).

Here's the setup I'm going with: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Gunk/saved/4sMn.

My Dad had a couple of Maxtor Diamondmax 21 SATA drives and one Maxtor Diamond 21 PATA drive (backup). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822144450. They are 7200 rpm drives, but given they are a good 6 years old do you think I need to replace them? I figure they would work just fine and I could put the cost of new HDDs towards a better GPU.

Also, my Dad's rig has a Silencer 750w PSU: Silencer 750w https://www.newpowersupply.com/ocz_s75q_750w_ultra_quiet_psu_silencer_atx_sata_sli_power_supply-pr-489-c-1-p-1.html. Any reason to get a new PSU?

Again, appreciate the insight and feel free to share any other insights. Case is an Antec full ATX size.

An SSD will increase boot times and apps will load faster. Personally, I would use an SSD for the boot drive. Regarding HHDs a 7200 RPM drive still spins at 7200 RPM regardless so the ones you should be as fast as any 7200 RPM drive. However, considering the age of the drives it might not be a bad idea to replace them. Were the drives heavily used?

hi,
that drive is going to seriously botleneck your computer on everyday tasks,
hard drivers nowadays are much faster then some years ago, the difference in performance is going to be substantial, one possible solution is since you already have the drives, an 120Gb ssd would be good for the os.

I like the idea of a SSD drive for boot up. Was looking into how to do that.

No, the drives were not used that much at all. My Dad barely used the machine.
