Just received the Monitor and spent over an hour with Dell Tech support over this issue to no avail. I am connecting a new ASUS laptop with NVIDIA graphic card to the Dell Monitor with the display port cable (mini-dp to dp) provided by Dell. The display is fine but the sound from my laptop is cut-off. I don't want the monitor to handle sound, it should come out of the laptop. Dell tech support wants me to try the HDMI connection and call them back. Will have to buy a cable for that. I don't know much about these new display port connectors, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Jarotech for answering so quickly. That did it!! Changed the playback device for the audio. I was looking for such a setting but couldn't figure it out or get any help from Dell or their website. I really appreciate this forum!

The monitor has two regular DP ports and a mini one. I am using the mini dp cable that came with the monitor connecting the mini end to the computer, and chose the DP port "in" to connect the computer. The other one is to connect another monitor. Hope this helps.

It's a pleasure to help.

Sorry to barge into someone else's thread but I have a somewhat similar issue.

I own two monitors which I need to connect to my laptop.

A Dell U2414H and a LG 27MP77 HM . The Dell has a HDMI/DP in and out while the LG has HDMI input.

I tried a HDMI splitter but it mirrors the displays rather than extending it. Also connected Dell to laptop using HDMI and a display port out to HDMI in (with LG) to daisy chain the monitors but wouldn't work. I did enable DP out in Dell.

I am using a Lenovo Z50 Laptop i5.

Would be thankful for any help.
