I'm currently building a computer and need help picking out a CPU that won't bottleneck with a 760. The parts I am considering are the AMD Athlon X4 760K CPU and the Asus GTX760-DC2OC-2GD5 GPU. I need help, as this is my first time building a computer from scratch and I'm unsure about bottlenecking.

well, this CPU is in the low mid-range in terms of performance and the GTX 760 is more in the high mid-range, so there is defenetly going to be a bottleneck in some CPU intensive games from this CPU, but it should do fine in most games, still i would suggest if possible going with a different CPU, what is your budget for that build? and in your budget should it includes monitor, keyboard and mouse, os, and also what are you looking at in terms of storage, i can try to put something togheter that is nice for you if you want..

The Athlon x4 760k would be on the low end of what I would consider to go with a GTX760. It would work, but maybe you could do better? What is your budget?

With a budget similar to the one required to buy that athlon you can get an FX 6300...not a powerhouse, but it will not bottleneck and is quite cheap

^Some AMD mobos (cheaper ones) won't support 125w TDP, so that's why we must wait for OP input

If I downgrade to a Nvidia Geforce GTX 660 video card, I'll have an additional 50 dollars. With that I'll have a budget of $260 to use on the CPU and Motherboard. Any ideas of a decent set for that pricing that can work with a 660?

One combination that I just found is the AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor (thank you CTurbo for the suggestion) and an Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0, would these 2 function well enough for the 660?

Yup, those are perfect, know that you can run as high as a GTX 780ti on an FX 8 core without any problem, very future proof CPU, good motherboard to go with it, very nice...id suggest a CPU cooler to go along ( Cooler master hyper 212 - 29$)
