So ive had this problem for a long time i will start at the beginning. i started to build a pc. i had the psu a gpu ram and a case. but i ran out of money and my frend was getting a new pc so he decided to give me his old one, it was a asus essentio cm6870 pre-built. he gave me the hardrive mainboard a gt 620 that came with it and a case. i put it all in my new case and booted it with the gt 620 and it posted and ran fine. then i upgraded to the rradeon hd 7770 and i had tons of isseus with it. it wouldent post, wouldent go to bios or wouldent boot every time. it took 2-5 trys to boot. and one day i shocked my pc and the 7770 stoped working. so i got a new 7770 and it dident work eather it just went to this flashing light gray screen. then i got a nvidea gtx 660 and it booted every time but dident post. now when i try to go to bios it just black screens and then after about a minite it makes a click sound and just stays black. it works but when i go into system settings it still thinks it is a asus essentio cm6870. is there anyway to get rid of the factory settings so it thinks its just a plain motherboard. btw the motherboard is a asus p8-h77 m-pro. i just put the 620 back in and it posts and everything.

The first thing that comes to mind is that your psu can't handle higher cards that need a power connector.
Which power supply is in the pc? Or give some info about it's max. wattage and amps on the +12voltrail.

Did you remove the old gpu drivers prior to installing the new ones? (both amd and nvidia drivers by now)
You could use one of the next for that,
http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/display_driver_uninstaller_download.html
or
http://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion
do this for the best results in safe mode.

Also after removing the old card could you first do a clear cmos (you haven't made changes to the bios?) and only after that install the new card. But only do this if you know that the psu supports the new card.
