Low fps with my "new" rig

Hello, so i've recently got a new R9 270X because my old 7870 broke (nothing related with overclocking it). I was expecting better performance in some games like League of Legends or Minecraft because people said 78xx series had factory fails and stuff.
But I am as bad as before, i cant play LoL above 70fps and they get worse as the match goes on, and I know people that can play it with 120fps+ with a pc way worse than mine. I think the problem is my CPU but I dont want to buy a new one since it has less than a year.

My PC:
CPU AMD FX6100
MOBO Asus m5a97 r2.0
GPU Radeon r9 270x
RAM 8gb
Coolers stock cpu + 3 chasis fans (40ºC idle, 50ºC+ while playing)

Can you help me?

Not to be overly negative... But there are CPUs from 2009 that're stronger than the FX-6100.

It's also worth considering that your internet connection can affect the framerate in online games.

The problem shouldn't be your CPU, it should be able to handle League of Legends with ease.

It might be a software issue? Are you only experiencing this playing League of Legends?

If you have VSync on then it will limit your games to the refresh rate of your monitor. If you have a 70hz monitor and you have VSync on then you'll only get 70fps. Your CPU should be fine, and isn't much of a bottleneck (if at all).

Are you sure about that? The FX-6100 is weaker than an old Phenom II or Ivy Bridge i3.

I am sure it is not problem of my Internet connection. And i have low fps too with minecraft (around 100) and diablo 3 for example (80 max, 20 min, 40-50 avg.) but i am happy with games like bf3 (ultra quality and it doesnt go under 50 fps) or borderlands 2. Drivers are up to date (13.12 Catalyst) and i dont have too much things installed right now apart from games. Also vsync is disabled in all games.

Is it worth it to overclock my cpu? As I said i dont want to buy a new one because this one is almost new, but I have temps issues on my pc with stock config. I've read that disabling 2 cores to leave it 4 cores is a good solution to have a good OC and good temps and it doesnt variates performance in games because they only use 4 cores.

Suggestions?

Replace that faildozer with an FX 8320, bump the multiplier to 20 to match FX 8350 speeds, and enjoy. :D

I know my CPU is not the best, but there is any other solution that not implies buy a new one? As i said before is it worth it to OC my fx 6100 or disable 2 cores and oc too? I have stock cooling but buying an aftermarket cooler is way more cheaper than buying a new CPU.

Overclocking it is a good option, but only if you have an appropriate motherboard and buy a better cooler.
Your motherboard isn't great for overclocking, but it's good enough as long as you don't try an extreme OC.

This is why you dont skimp on buying hardware.
