Hey, so I'm looking to buy a Nvidia GTX 780 card, but I have a bit of a dillema. I cannot choose between these cards:

1. ASUS GTX 780 (GTX780-3GD5)
http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/GTX7803GD5/

a) £489.32 = €594.29
http://www.amazon.co.uk/GeForce-Graphics-Express-Displa...
b) £425.68 = €517.00
http://www.amazon.de/NVIDIA-GeForce-Grafikkarte-GDDR5-S...

2. EVGA GTX 780 (03G-P4-2781-KR)
http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=03G-P4-278...

a) £395.93 = €480.86
http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-03G-P4-2781-KR-Nvidia-PCI-...
b) £380,93 = €462,66
http://www.amazon.de/EVGA-NVIDIA-GeForce-Grafikkarte-Sp...

SO, my question is - why this price difference? Is the Asus card that much better that it would cost as much as 100 pounds more? Or is it just marketing schemes and I should not pay any attention to any of it and just buy the cheapest one?
Also the Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II card is cheaper (£394.18 at amazon.co.uk and €452,59 at amazon.de), which I find weird, as it is supposed to be better than the reference card. But I'm not thinking of buying it, though, I just think that the reference card design looks so much better (it's a stupid reason, I know, but I don't care).

I must add, that I'm also considering this superclocked version of EVGA which has a bit better performance due to being superclocked:
3. EVGA GTX 780 SC (03G-P4-2783-KR)
http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=03G-P4-278...

a) £384.99 = €467.58 (it's cheaper than the standard EVGA!!!!)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00CYIPZ74/ref=ox_sc...
b) £410,38 = €498,43
http://www.amazon.de/EVGA-03G-P4-2783-KR-Grafikkarte-Sp...

So please help me, I really need advice. I'm not much of a hardware wizard, but I do understand some stuff. I only had experience with ASUS hardware (though not the video cards), and it was always good, but I also heard only good things about EVGA. So if you think that there is no real difference in performance, or there is not that much of a difference for it to be a good investment, please tell me.

I would also appreciate if you could give me some links to sites where I can buy one of these cards cheaply, because maybe I just don't know where to look. I live in Latvia though, and not all internet shops ship here.

Thanks in advance! :)

Between reference cards there is no difference other than the extras that come in the box and perhaps the warranties/support offered by the companies. Performance wise, they are identical. The only time you'll see a difference is when they start customizing the cards by upgrading the PCB, coolers, VRAM, etc. But these two cards are the same.

it's probably due to stock status or sale pricing causing differences that shouldn't be there. the asus and evga ref cards are identical, the direct cu is faster a bit but if you dont like the custom cooler it's out of the qustion so your best option would be the evga sc version

basically as listed above, just you get the brand name added on the card. All OC software works with all brands of GPU's so that won't really count as a benefit for Asus, though I would suggest you use their GPU tweak software for OC.

Thanks for the answers! It was really helpful and surprisingly fast. :D
So it was basically what I expected, and therefore I will most likely buy the EVGA GTX 780 SC, as laviniuc suggested.

Does somebody know a good internet store aside from Amazon where I can buy it?

newegg is great, but where do you live (country) as that can come up with good responses.

Ebay is another good one, though not as good as newegg.

Pcpartpicker can also give you places near you which sell the product.

unfortunately, newegg doesn't ship to my little, forsaken country, but I must admit that they do have some good hardware for good prices. :)

Thanks unknownofprob!! :)  I think I may have found a good deal on Pcpartpicker (still have to make sure that they ship to Latvia).
