Well after 12 years, my old headphones finally died on me. So I am looking to get a new set and thought, well, since I play swtor a lot, why not get a headset with a built in mic, so I can actually be heard on TS and Vent. I have no knowledge of this department, and need advice. I have a $300 budget for it, it only has to work with a PC, unless they come up with "upgradeable consoles", I will never use a ps or xbox, would like it if I could utilize the built in surround sound on my Mobo, but no need if its complicated, major thing is, I use a 2.4ghz wireless network, and I would like the headphones to be wireless, but only if my wifi won't get in the way of it. Note: I don't believe I can make the wifi a 5 ghz network, and the wifi is a must. I have windows 8.1 installed. If there is anything else you need to know please ask, and thanks in advance for any help I receive.

The sennheiser g4me ones have really good reviews and good mic quality. The issue is that they are wired so take a look at the corsair and steelseries ones. If you don't mind the wired for better quality go for the sennheiser ones. The difference between the first two is that one is open and one is closed and is a matter of preference.

Thanks for your reply, I really do want a wireless one, if my wifi, which is in the same room as my system, won't cause problems with it. I once read a negative review about a pair of headphones, that wouldn't work because the person had a wireless 2.4ghz router in the room. So that is why I am concerned about it.

I doubt that that would be a problem because its the same as many devices using wifi in your room. Look at the steelseries H wireless. Its more expensive at 300 but it's wireless has on headset volume controls and comes with a chat mix thing with some cool in game features for chat an game audio.

I don't mind spending money, if it is well worth it, but please also remember, I want to utilize the surround sound that is built into my mobo.

I'm afraid that you'll have to choose wireless or motherboard sound because all wireless headphones that I know use a usb hub/soundcard. To use motherboard sound you will need to use 3.5mm jacks (wired headset)

Thanks for every ones help, I went with the earforce x42's, hooked up by toslink cable to the onboard audio. Next, I am upgrading the sound card to one of the soundblaster z series sound cards.
