Multiplayer Using WiFi Or Ethernet Cable

I have a Desktop PC, A Laptop, Wireless Network To Connect Both Systems To Access Internet , A LAN Cable To Connect Both Systems Together. I want to play multiplayer in these two Systems with a friend. What to do ? I have a lot of games installed and NFS MW 2005 copied but playable. I tried game ranger but when tried to session game in MW it stopped working. Which all games can be played using the things I have ? At least Most Wanted ? Help me how to do this ? Thanks.

Cable connection is faster and more reliable than wifi. Both really can only be used at short distance (less than 20m) without range extenders and further drops in bps.

Based on your current Internet speed and it's recommended to use Ethernet cable if you want to get the maximum speed.

I will use ethernet cable but how ? And what to do ? When both are connected to each other a network without access to internet appears in Network and Sharing center. I want to use it for multiplayer but how ?

So do you want to play together with friend only or connect to a multiplayer game which consists of other people?

run the cables from each pc to the router. they will then appear as network devices

Then you need to have 2 Ethernet cables and plug each computer to the router, so you can play either LAN or WAN parties.
Note that if you did not use Gigabit Internet like Google Fibre or whatever, play with WiFi while in a same room and near the router can also achieve the same speed just like using the Ethernet cable.

So according to your reply, you only want to play with a friend locally and not an online game? If yes, LAN means Local Area Network in which means any computer connected to that network will get a same speed (of course not the Internet speed), no matter via either Ethernet cable or WiFi. So actually you don't need to have both or one of them to connect via cable, just need to be as long as both computers connected to the router in either ways. (via cable or via WiFi)

My friend had it installed. I copied the whole game and cracked on both my laptop and pc.
