Can I install Windows 7 to a 3.5" drive using a laptop

I want to upgrade a friend's tower. I have got a blank 3.5" hard drive and Windows 7, but my friend lives 100 miles away so I want to install it before I travel to see them. The problem is I don't have access to a tower so can I use my laptop to install Windows 7 to this hard drive (whilst connected to my laptop) the connect the hard drive when I travel to see them?

no, it would install the right drivers.
  2. You can't use your Windows 7 setup anyway, you need to buy a new Windows code for his system. You can use your disk, but you need a new code to activate it. Windows also won't install to an external drive.
  3. Thank you for your fast response!
