I have an x4 750k and my idle temp was ~50C while gaming ~68C and i thought that it was high so i bought a new thermal paste(arctic silver 5) to replace the old one , i clean both cpu and cpu cooler very good and then i applied just a little bit (i had seen tones of videos in youtube) but unfortunately the temps went up ! Now at idle ~57C and while game maximum was 82C , i have already changed 3 times the thermal paste because the results were shocking and that didnt fix it . I really need help !

Solution

The higher the number, the better. That means you are very far away from thermal margin. Watch as your CPU is under load, the thermal margin will get smaller.

See other 3rd party programs like HWMonitor wrongly interpret thermal margin as actual temperature. Probably 100 people post about this every day.

I have set my cpu fan to 99% because if i had not it would reach 90C! Also i put my thermal paste in the middle of the cpu a small dot and then i saw the temps were too high and i removed and clean both cpu and cpu cooler again, after that i applied my thermal paste again a small dot and i covered all the surface of the cpu with the help of a credit card .( sorry for my bad english btw)

The ventilation is good in my opinion i got 120mm fan in front , 120mm fan rear and 2x120 fans
at the left side panel.! The one is blowing air into the case and the other out of the case !! Sorry but i cant upload photos right now , what i did wrong i think is that i cleaned the cpu and the cooler with a deodorant ( https://www.google.gr/search?q=str8+unlimited&es_sm=122&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=QXFZU_7HHIGu0QX5koCIDQ&ved=0CCwQsAQ&biw=1920&bih=993#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=rGxBQXMlRhXZHM%253A%3BQeDrs6DHEcQaUM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.sigmalive.com%252Ffiles%252Fimagecache%252Ffull_image%252Ffiles%252Fnode_images%252F8%252F4%252F5%252F273845%252FSTR8_UNLIMITED_DEO_SPRAY_0.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.sigmalive.com%252Flifestyle%252Fbeauty%252F273845%3B608%3B480) xD but both were very clean of course !! Do you think that's the problem ?? Also thanks for your help

But do they still look bad xD ? I shouldnt have waste money on buying new thermal paste , the cost of this product in Greece is 11$ :p I will probably start collecting money for 212 evo ..!
