I've searched the web high and low for the answer to this question and come up empty handed, so apologies if this has been covered in another thread.

I recently built a new tower (my first ever) and after getting everything together decided to also upgrade my video card to a R9 290x (one of the 3 fan models) but obviously size is a concern.

The card I want is 12" in length, and I have just over 12" of room in my case, so it should just barely fit... however my current card (Radeon HD 6850) has the power plug in the end of it (which adds another 1 1/2 inches of overall length to the card for the plug)

So I'm wondering, where does the power cord plug into the R9 290x? Does it plug into the end (thus extending the overall length of the card) or the side somewhere (so that I'll be able to make it fit)

Huge thanks to anyone who can answer this question... I really don't want to have to get a shorter 2 fan model, and annoyingly enough none of the pics I can find show the power port.

Oh and in case it matters
CPU - Intel I7 3820 @ 3.6 GHz
Mobo - Asus P9X79
Cooling - Cooler Master Seidon 240m + 5 additional fans.
Case - Cooler Master HAF XB Evo
Ram - 16GB Corsair Vengeance

99% certain that all very long >10" card generally have them on their sides and not their ends, as 12" is about as much clearance as you get in any case. Precisely which card is it?

Yep that's the card.

Thanks again for the answer, really didn't want to drop $600 and find out that it wouldn't fit. lol
