I'm visiting a relative who has no internet, and I want to connect my android tablet to her phone line to connect with dial up internet (ie freeola) - is it possible? My thoughts are to get a usb external modem and connect it to the landline socket in the wall, and dial up freeola - although not sure how to go about this with android - I may need an app to help me achieve what I need.

I have to agree there is no way to hook an android tablet upto dial up. If you have a laptop with a modem you could dial in using that then us ICS to give your tablet internet over the wifi. But I would say get a wireless hotspot or if your cell is capable maybe use that as a wireless hotspot. Or look at freedom pop they have very cheap plans for hotspots.

Connect to 'what' internet? Apparently, the relative has nothing beyond a phone line.

Yes they did. Does the OP have one? Does it have any rational WiFi that the tablet can talk to?

Could you eventually get an android tablet to connect to some dialup deal? Sure. People have done far weirder things.
How much effort is he willing to put into this?
