Network randomly doesnt work

okay so basically nearly every day my internet will just not work for a few minutes but the whole time it doesn't work the icon says it still has internet connection and when it stopped working i checked on my laptop to check if it was the router opposed to my computer but it was still working fine on my laptop and not only that but my icon for the network connection always shows as the red x but when i hover over it says it has internet connection and i can still use the internet iv tried restarting reinstalling network drivers changing something in the registry and just turning off the icon restarting and turning it back on again. Any ideas for either of these problems would be much appreciated

if you have a cable modem..check that the isp not running updates to the modem or testing the lines. where I am Comcast hit there updates around 1am-2am. (you can tell because all of the led will go out and the modem power cycles).
on your pc make sure power management is turned off to rule out windows turning the port off. I would also run malware and a good virus scan to see if you have malware on your pc. also on your wifi router if your using one. make sure it locked and not open. if it open you may have so many people using the router that it over heating and locking up. also make sure the router if your using one has newest firmware. (if you have to plug the pc into the modem see if the issue still there.). if your motherboard uses intel chipset there been issue with intel software can cause that issue and slow downloads. what you want to do is remove the network software and leave the driver.

i am using my router with a cable and i dont think it is updates or my laptop wouldnt work when this one did i know that power saving is off because i had issues with that before and the driver thing i did what you said and left the driver and the wireless has a passcode and is locked so not from overloading either and my motherboard is and amd chipset but the downloads aren't slow or anything it will go from working perfectly normally to just nothing and after a few mins it will be back to normal i do have this computer using a static ip would that cause anything like this ? i will try updating firmware and scanning for viruses and get back to you but if the firmware fixes the internet problem the icon will still act strange so how would i fix that after ?
