Hi Guy's,

I am wanting to upgrade my GPU from a reference 7970 to the above mentioned card. I game at 1920 x 1080 and although that card may be deemed overkill, I want to future proof my rig for as long as possible and may eventually get a 30" panel to go with it? I just want to know if the price difference of £50 or so for the "Classified" version is worth the extra money? I will be OC'ing which ever card I buy with Afterburner and just wanted some opinions please?

Many Thanks!!

You already pay a very big premium for the GTX 780ti, why not pay a little more to get a bios switch and maybe some more overclocking potential...i would go for it...but above all else i would stick to the GPU you have a little longer it should still perform quite nicely in most games...wait till you get a game that you really like and you can't max out...or wait for this new panel to perform an upgrade...who know's maybe there will be some GPU's that offers more than 30% extra performance for less than twice the price by then? or maybe they will just drop in price a little...you should go out and have a good beer my man ! ;)  just a thought BTW don't hurt me for this :D  love

The classified has a higher clock speed and a better dual fan cooler, the original superclocked has a stock blower cooler which is louder and not as effective. so its 50 euros for a slightly higher clock speed and a better cooler.

...and a bios switch and higher binned chip...

I realise that my 7970 still cuts it, I mean there is nothing wrong with the card but I want to be able to ensure that when the true next gen titles begin to appear i.e. only titles that are available for the PS4 and XBox One as opposed to being released on the last gen consoles too that I am in the possession of a truly next gen card that I know will be able to run most every game for the foreseeable future with everything cranked up to 11 and no dip's below 60fps?!

I have the opportunity in a couple of weeks time to upgrade my current GPU and as I like to overclock will probably buy the Classified model?

you know the 780ti is only about 30 to 40% better overall than what you have...it's not really that much in that it will allow to run games a little longer, but do you realise that even an highly overclocke gtx 780ti wont max out many games? crysis3, metro LL, max payne 3...trust me its not that much better than what you have...you should wait for those games to release and see how they run? the more you wait the better i think...anyway its your decision if you can get a good price for the 7970 it could be worth it but my guess is both cards will run next gen games at about the same settings: medium/high and 2xmsaa...
