Im confused if my msi z87-g45 can use 4 sticks of ram but when i google it, it says it will work but the motherboard is dual channel. Can someone explain this?

(Also this is my first build)

Solution
Your motherboard has 4 memory slots on it. You can use 4 sticks of ram. Dual-channel just means that if you pair up the memory stick in slots 1/3 and 2/4 they'll run a little faster. If you're planning to use all 4 memory slots, the best thing to do is buy a 4-stick memory kit that has either the maximum amount of memory your motherboard will support if you're using a 64-bit OS, or 4GB if you're using a 32-bit OS since a 32-bit OS won't ever allow you to use more than 3.75GB of ram anyhow.
