Spinrite Hangs at Initdisk

I ran Spinrite from the boot cd on my 3 year-old Vaio on both its new ssd and its original hard drive. On both occasions it hangs at Initdisk. The only thing you can change in the BIOS is CPU C3/C6 stuff, Intel Virtualization, boot sequence and passwords. No SATA/IDE stuff. There's no usb in the machine when I run Spinrite, either. So I reckon I have wasted a load of money on something that, in its present state, just can't work on my laptop.

Perhaps I should not have listened to the gushing testimonials, but if any one has any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong, I'd be most grateful.

Spinrite is a good hard drive maintenance program and nothing else. What are you trying to use it for on and why would...

Done. I've asked for a refund detailing the problem and the steps I took to try to get it to work. Perhaps version 6.1, when it appears, will solve the problem. In the meantime I thank you for your sound advice.

Update: I've already had notification from the Spinrite sales people agreeing to the refund; which is very fair.
