I don't think there's a graphics card at less than or equal to $120 that will play AC4 at 720p with playable framerates.

Hello fellow tech experts,
I've recently built a rig, albeit a VERY low end one (about $500 with tax, shipping). My specs are at the bottom. I am using the AMD A10-5800K APU, and it was working just fine on low-mid settings at 720p (which is all I want at the moment) on pretty much all my games until I bought Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry, which is basically Assassin's Creed 4 with a shorter, different story, and same amazing graphics. Even on low settings, it ran at only slightly playable fps, and when it started raining in-game, it went down to just a few frames per second. The fps also dropped when I was playing Next Car Game and went through a grinder, though playable still. Anyway, to the point. I am looking for a budget graphics card (preferably around $120 or under) that will keep the fps stable and have decent graphics on mid-low settings on 720p, maybe 1080p.

Specs:

CPU: AMD A10-5800K APU @ 2.8 Ghz
MoBo: Gigabyte F2A88XM-HD3
PSU: Corsair CX500
Case: NZXT H230
HDD: WD Blue 500GB
RAM: 8GB 1333 Kingston HyperX Blu
OS: Windows 8.1
GPU: Coming Soon! :D

Oh! By the way, can I power the GPU suggested with my current PSU? A while back I posted my specs. and asked if they were good, and someone said that 500W was more than I need, but I don't know.

Thanks!

Hmm, if you could bring it up to $150-$180 with something like the R9 270 you could get a lot more performance for the value but I understand that sometimes, you just have a limit. Around $120 I would look at the GTX 750, GTX750Ti (great card for price watch this video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxUsGZedLSQ), and the R7 260X/R7 265. Although the GTX 750 Ti is a fantastic card, you may want to go with an AMD card as you will be able to team it up with your APU's included graphics. However, if you could bring your budget up, the R9 270 delivers amazing performance for such a low price point.

There are no GPU's in this world that costs < $120 that can play AC4 at 720p.

The only ones at low-end that is decent for the price and gives you decent performance in games is either the R7 260X for $140-160 (depending where you buy) and GTX 750Ti with similar pricing. Those are the most lowest-end card I can recommend. Anything lower than that is a no-no for gaming.

The R7 260X is close to a R9 270.

As for 500W, its more than enough to run everything since low-end gfx card do not consume a lot of power. Even with my computer specs at full load all overclocked do not use more 350W.

Also your APU is not an energy hogger like Phenoms are. So for you even with low-end card you won't even reach 300W usage. 500W is more than enough.

On a side note, since you have an AMD APU, it'd be best to go with R7 260X since catalyst will allow you to crossfire the card with APU.
