Hey guys, i bough an ASUS R9 280X dcii top and a XFX TS550W (core pro, now they changed name to tsxxx). Its an amazing card, but when i saw some reviews it showed that it would score 7600 or more in 3dmark at stock, and mine only did 7296!? http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/2942711 here is the link. And im using beta drivers if that matters.
The other problemm is that im hearing a coil whine noise when im running 3d mark, i know it puts a stupid load on my gpu. I think the noise is from psu (i cant hear it at all, only when hear near case). The store where i bought the gpu+psu said that there were some complainings about some mechanical noise (psu). But should i get worried? or only when it starts to make bigger noise?
Thanks :)

It's normal, although not desirable. You should hear the variable frequency drives where I work. They sing the most annoying tune.

So it doesnt mean its a faulty psu?
Ok i just saw now and my score is 7300 but i have 8700 graphics scores, and i saw some bench with 7300+ but with 8000 graphics scores? Will the i7 give much better physcx score over mine i5 4570? Probably the overall score is being affected by that?!
Thanks again!

Yes physics are very tough on CPUs so an i7 really helps over an i5 also if they are using an overclocked or higher stock frequency CPU that edges them over you

I stopped caring about 3DMark scores because my computer was not performing where it was by a few points. The power supply would not cause lower benchmarks.

Hm ok guys, so i think it was because in every review is used i7 with some overclock, so its everything ok with my card?
I know it wouldnt cause lower benchmarks, but the noise is dangerous? it can be faulty? or just normal coil whine (its really low almost impossible to hear, only with case open its very easy or with hear next to case) and only does that noise mostly on burn test apps. not gaming!
Thanks a lot :)

Very normal. Some motherboards and graphics cards can get a pretty loud squeal going. It's like the inductor becomes a guitar string, same concept.

Ok thanks everyone for your help :D
Glad to know that everythings fine! By the way gyts, would this xfx 550w handle mine gpu overclocked? I wont overclock to much the voltage! Or i wont!

That's a close call but if it was me I'd give it a try.

My old GTX460 used to do the same thing. Still works to this day.

Its really very close call? I saw some bench and whole system with i7 using 360-400 without oc.
I only have 1 hdd 1 optical drive and 3 fans!!
Well ill try it, if it shuts down i wont oc.
But guys i think its my PSU doing the noise, not GPU, but im not sure!
Thanks

It could be.There are coils in there too. Still nothing to be alarmed at. I get concerned when a PSU shoots a fireball out the backside or if my motherboard starts to smell and I look in and all the VRM area is melted.

Haha thats a little extreme, but yes i should have caution, in some months if the noise keeps increasing i can go to store and switch for a 650w x)
But will oc a little now!
Thanks for your time!
