Taking into account all the limitations the case and stock power supply (460w) have. Money isn't a real issue, though I'd like to keep it under $600. I could possibly upgrade the PSU if I really need to but would prefer to avoid it.

any help is appreciated.

If you want a decent GPU you'll need a new PSU. your current unit is only capable of 385w on the 12v rails. For $600 you could easily pick up a new PSU and a GTX 780.

The 8300 shipped with a 5870 which was 11.1" and the Asus 780 is 11.3". There are no official specs on the max length the case supports so you may need a tape measure or ruler to verify how long the card can be.

i replaced the stock card with a 550 ti a while back, and it's only 8.5" and there's plenty of room beyond it. i'm ordering the parts soon and i'll let you know how it works out. thanks so much for the help!
