I've been told going with SLI is a more hassle than it's worth, driver compatibility, stability, profiles etc. Currently, I have a EVGA SC FTW 4GB 760 and it runs very nicely for $320, 65-70FPS average on BF4, mid 50's minimum. I can afford another 760 no problem, but I was suggested to go with a 780Ti instead of the SLI setup, and I'm not sure if I can sell my 760 very easily, I don't know that many people locally that play PC games. The SLI setup is $100 less, and is said to be 20% faster than a 780Ti. Assuming I can sell my 760, I could probably save up for a 780Ti over time, but not anytime soon, I could get another 760 as early as 2-4 weeks most likely. The best way I can sum up my single SC 760 is a moderate overclock on a 770, with 4GB VRAM, that could use a little more horsepower to completely max out the graphically intensive games and get the best performance.

I think the best thing to do currently is to keep your 760, don't get SLI (it can be a hassle for some), and don't try to push to get the 780Ti since you runs games just fine. I would save up money and in the future get a better graphics card.

If you already have the correct motherboard and psu to run the sli i don't see why not.
Otherwise I would just keep the 760 as alex suggested and wait till next year to upgrade. If you truly are unhappy with the current performance you could sell your card on craigslist or ebay.

I see where it's a hassle, and I see where it's not, but the best advice I've heard really is "Buy the best single card you can afford, and when the prices drop a few years (or however) later, throw another one in there"...well that implies SLI right there, with typically just higher end cards.

Since you already have 1 760, I'd just get another for SLI. Now if you were buying both new then I would probably suggest the 780ti. I have used and built several SLI system and I have never found it to be a hassle or have very many compatibility problem. In my experience the games that haven't supported SLI didn't need it to run well anyway.
That's what I was thinking, I'm already in the card $320, I'm still paying for the rig till November, so if I sold it for $220-250, that's about 1/3 of a nice 780Ti. Really, the general question I was asking is the reliability of SLI, I know the performance of my card in SLI across several games and it's impressive, it beats a single 780Ti 4/5 times at $100 less. And I completely agree with what you say by saying if I were buying 2 new vs already owning one. I have a 1000W Platinum EVGA PSU, a Asus Z77 Motherboard, and a i5-3570k @ 4.2GHz (will bump up to 4.6GHz+ when I get a H100i), so I have room for another GPU @ PCI x8/x8 with no drops in performance.

You already have a good card and good fps, wait for the new maxwell cards and pickup another 760 when the prices drop a bit. Or simply get a new card.
