My android tablet connects to my wifi but will not let me surf .

im useing my wifi router from home and i have lots of bars and it says im conected but when i try to go on social networks or on the web it wont let me surf. somebody please help me!

I have seen this problem with other Android tablets. It appears to somewhat version dependent. I don't know that there is one cause or solution, but here are a few ideas that may help. Tell the tablet to forget the current connection and try these.

Change the WiFi channel on the router and retry. Set the channel specifically to 1, 6, or 11. Try each one.

Rename the SSID and retry. If you get a connection change the SSID back and retry.

Make note of the encryption password then temporarily turn off encryption. Try the encrypted connection with the tablet. If it works,and reset the encryption, using WPA2 if possible or WPA.


Please post back with the result and note what worked or didn't work for you.

Did you try changin the encryption mode settings of your wifi router? I had exactly the same issue and have been googling since many days to find a solution.Finally i found the solution.Atleast it workd for me...first let me state the problem i was facing...i was getting connected to the wifi and the signal was strong..however i cldnt connect to d internet.. All my other devices worked perfectly with d wifi. However in my tab, it wld connect for few minutes and then get timed out.Finally i went to my router wifi settings and then to my encryption mode settings. It had 3 options...AES , TKIN and AES and TKIN. It was set to the last option.I changed it to TKIN and lo ...my internet was as fast as it cld be. I understand that AES is the most secure type of encryption however its not compatable with some old hardwares.You might need to upgrade your hardware to use AES mode. So now i change the setting to TKIN wen my little one uses her tab and then change it back to TKIN and AES option when shez done with it.Hope this helps some of u.
