Hello! I need help with overclocking for the first time. I have a FX-6300 with asus m5a97 r2.0. My cooler is the Hyper evo 212. I want to overclock to a safe 4.3 GHZ. If anyone has experience with the processor and motherboard with overclocking, id like some tips on what to do. Thanks!

firstly, you have one of a very few 970 based boards that can successfully OC, as the 970 chipset is not very good at OC. I would not suggest going over 4.2Ghz, as you may get instability issues if you try to go higher.

What to do; You'll have to go into BIOS and OC through there, and increase the voltage a small margin but not by a lot, BIOS will not apply such a high voltage if you go to high, so your safe in that context. You'll have to refer to the manual for your BIOS, as they are all different.

If you would like more info, you can get some good beginner overclocking guides; Like this one from Tom's Hardware;
