Hi everyone. Need some advice.
I have an old gaming pc with a Foxconn A6VMX motherboard, 3GB ddr2,
Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (3.0GHz) cpu and a old geforce 6200. Well it needs an upgrade.
I was planing on putting in a Geforce GTX 750 1GB but was told that as my CPU is old and that it would bottleneck my GPU. now i dont know much about that as all i want to play is DayZ. So I looked online and other ppl have said that if I upgrade my BIOS i should be able to upgrade tth CPU to a AMD Phenom X4 9850. But is that the best CPU for this board and do i need to install all 6 of the different BIOS upgrades? Also will i need a new heatsink? Sorry, so many questions but im on a very tight budget and i dont want to get this wrong. Im hoping that I can get away with just getting the new Graphics Card.
Thank you in advance for any help you can offer me.

David

Your CPU will bottleneck the GTX 750, quite easily. You'll need a new CPU in order to upgrade.

AMD Phenom X4 9850, that is a very good CPU to upgrade with, Best to get a good CPU first before you do your GPU, otherwise you'll have a bottleneck the whole time and lose performance.

Thank you for you reply unknownofprob, As that is that case. How do i go about bios updates? iv never done one as iv always been told that if it goes wrong my motherboard is just a usless paperweight. Also which bios do i install? all of them or just one.

BIOS is not something you install, it's a utility already on the motherboard that is launched with a key press on startup. I unfortunately can;t say what it is or what to do as all BIOS's are different, so you'll have to refer to your motherboard manual for that. In order for your cpu to work, under CPU you should be able to flash your BIOS to a supported version.

If all is wrong and you don't have a clue, Just PM me and I'll help.

When you first put in a new CPU, your PC will not boot, this is normal as you have to flash your BIOS first.

Hope this helps.
